A little about Langston Hughes

Langston Hughes, born in 1902, was a towering figure in American literature, celebrated for his profound impact during the Harlem Renaissance. As a talented poet, playwright, and activist, Hughes explored the African American experience in a way that resonated with audiences then and continues to do so today.

A little about  Composer and Arranger, John Musto 

John Musto is a composer and pianist who makes really cool music in different styles. He creates music for big orchestras, operas, instruments, small groups, and even for movies and TV shows. His music is influenced by jazz, ragtime, and blues, which give it a unique and exciting sound.

When it comes to singing, John Musto has written a bunch of operas and songs. His operas have names like “Volpone,” “Later the Same Evening,” “Bastianello,” and “The Inspector.” He’s also known for his beautiful art songs, which are like musical poems.

Besides composing, John Musto is a talented pianist. He often plays the piano by himself and with other musicians. He even performs his own piano concertos, which are like big musical adventures.

John Musto has received some really special awards, like being a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for his song cycle “Dove Sta Amore.” He’s won two Emmy awards and other honors from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and his music school, Manhattan School of Music.

Right now, he teaches piano at CUNY Graduate Center in New York, where he’s also in charge of a music program. You can listen to his music on recordings by different companies, and he’s published by Peermusic Classical.
